Lithium-ion battery cathode materials
Lithium cobalt oxide is the most widely used cathode material in the consumer electronics sector, mainly used in batteries for portable devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and tablets. Its advantages include:
High volumetric energy density: The layered structure is compact, with a high compacted density (2.4-3.2 g/cm³), suitable for miniaturized devices.
Stable working voltage: Nominal voltage is 3.7V, and the actual working voltage range is 2.4-4.45V, supporting high-voltage fast charging technology.
Excellent cycle performance: The capacity decay rate per cycle is less than 0.05%, and the initial discharge specific capacity exceeds 135mAh/g.
Technical evolution direction:
High voltage: By doping elements such as aluminum and magnesium or surface coating stable lattice oxygen, the charging cut-off voltage is raised to 4.45V, and the volumetric energy density exceeds 700Wh/L.
Fast charging optimization: Improving the particle morphology (such as nanosizing, sheet-like structure) to shorten the lithium-ion diffusion path and support discharge at rates above 2C.
